Pride
is something that all of us struggle with. Most of us don't realize it, nor do
we want to change. Most people don't realize pride destroys you until you're
gone. I did some research and I asked a friend what sickness will kill you
before you realize you're even sick...
Pride is like a brain aneurysm.
A
brain aneurysm is a weak bulging spot on the wall of the brain artery. This
weak bulging spot is very much like a thin balloon. Over time, the blood flows
within the artery and pounds against the thinned portion of the wall and
aneurysms form silently from wear and tear on the arteries. As the artery wall
becomes gradually thinner from the dilation, the blood flow causes the weakened
wall to swell outward. This pressure may cause the aneurysm to rupture and
allow blood to escape into the space around the brain. A ruptured brain
aneurysm can cause sudden death, and if not causing death it is sure to cause
brain damage.
Pride
is a weak bulging spot on the wall of our souls. This weak spot is also very
much like a thin balloon. Over time, a haughty spirit will flow within us and
will pound against this weak spot and pride forms silently from wear and tear
on our soul. As the soul's wall becomes gradually thinner from the pressure,
the haughty spirit causes the weakened wall to swell outward. This pressure may
cause the soul to rupture and allow pride to escape into our thoughts and mind,
consuming our soul completely. A ruptured soul can cause complete disconnection
from God, and even if by a tiny chance it doesn't cause "complete"
disconnection... your relationship with God will be distant.
I
did some research in the Bible.
These are a few of the many verses
I found on
pride and humility.
